Market Data

A study for everyone

The data on the "Material Flow Analysis for Plastics in Germany" has been gaining broad acceptance in industry, politics and science for many years. With its detailed and reliable data, the study offers a unique picture of the plastic material flow from production to recovery. In the present study relating to the material flow 2019 again detailed figures about production and use of recyclates have been surveyed.

100 percent recovery

For some years now, the regular documentation of statistics for the "Material Flow Analysis for Plastics" has shown that nearly 100 percent of the collected plastic waste is recovered. At present, almost 46 percent goes into material recycling, nearly one percent into feedstock recycling and the rest is used for energy production. In Germany, plastic waste is used as a resource: the dumping of such waste on landfills is now a thing of the past. The aim – also with regard to the problems connected with marine litter – must be to push through a “divert-from-landfill” strategy of this kind throughout Europe.
